Minutes of the Meeting of the Council for the Municipality of Alleyn and Cawood, held this 7th day of April 2014, 10 Jondee Road, Danford Lake, Québec.

The Director General and Secretary-Treasurer, Isabelle Cardinal, with eight (8) guest were also present.
 
1.       Opening of Meeting
 
Mayor Mayer acknowledges quorum and declares the Meeting is officially opened at 7:30 P.M.
 
2.       Approvalof Agenda

4.       Business arising from Minutes
 
Isabelle Cardinal, Director General said that she had applied for the PetSmart grant and was waiting for an answer. Councillor Tanner spoke about the Pet Program in the Pontiac and that the founder of the program could pay half of the cost to spay and neuter a stray cat.
 
Councillor Ricky Lafleur asked if the CPR course is CSST graded. Councillor Squitti will look into it. Isabelle Cardinal, Director General, said that there were about 12 names on the sign-up sheet.
 
5.       QUESTION PERIOD
 
Denise Renaud asked if the municipality heard anything from the “Trash Talk” meeting. Mayor Mayer said that Kari Richardson had said at an MRC meeting that there were about 20 people that attended.
 
Linda Cronk asked Mayor Mayer if he will be giving an MRC report. Mayor Mayer answered that he brings up the information that is pertinent to the municipality to the Councillors and Director General. She also inquired about an update with Hydro Quebec. Mayor Mayer answered that he is on this committee at the MRC and they are waiting to have a meeting with Hydro Quebec. Isabelle Cardinal, Director General said that about 2 months ago she received an e-mail that a request was sent on our behalf to put a safety breaker on the transformer.
 
Henry Chamberlain, Fire Chief, would like the office to send another letter to CRTC, Bell and to the parliament representative for the residents that do not have a phone connection (land line). He also mentioned that Jason, Merlin, Sean and himself had CPR training during the weekend.

Youth Program

And resolved unanimously that Council approves participating as an employer in the ‘Youth Employment for the New Economy’ Skills Link project to operate out of Kazabazua under the lead of the ‘Association culturelle, sociale et âge d’or de Kazabazua’. As employer we would be covering benefit deductions. We would be interested in employing up to 2 youth over the period of the Skills Link project however, if there are any work related problems the Municipality can terminate the employment.

The Deputy Chief, Jason Emery, mentioned that the 200ft hose is still missing.
Isabelle Cardinal, Director General mentioned that Mayor Mayer and Councillor Montague will be attending a meeting with Lake George Association on Monday May 19 and Councillors are invited.
 
9.       RECREATION

Roger Johnson, President of the DLRA mentioned that the DLRA will have a meeting in a couple of weeks.
 
10.   ROADS / VEHICLE MAINTENANCE & MUNICIPAL EQUIPMENT

Benjamin Graveline has been doing the Spring maintenance on the Backhoe and Grader.
 
11.   SENIORS / CHURCH GUILD / HALL COMMITTEE

The Church Guild will have a potluck meeting on April 17th, 2014.
 
12.   MT O`BRIEN ASSOCIATION / HEENEY PARK

The MT O’Brien Association will need to use the Library for their AGM on Sunday May 25th, 2014  at 1:00pm. Their next meeting is at the beginning of May and they would like a meeting with the Mayor. The membership fee is now $20.00.

Henry Chamberlain, Fire Chief, informed Council about the PEP program with SAAQ and that the fire truck needs to be inspected every 6 months. Gary Johnson is certified to do the inspection. Isabelle Cardinal, Director General will be in contact with Gary to get his information.
